In a crowded online tutoring space, Donovan Smith brings structure, strategy, and heart. As the Chief Foundation Officer at LatePass.Com, Donovan built LatePass.Com to be more than tutoring. It is a gap-closing support system built around families, scholars, and measurable progress.
Under his leadership, LatePass.com has achieved something rare: consistent academic support across multiple states, grade levels, and learning needs. Whether a student is falling behind or striving to accelerate, Donovan ensures that each tutor is equipped with the tools, mindset, and method to deliver undeniable results.
What sets Donovan apart is his ability to connect math knowledge, classroom experience, and instructional strategy. and the science of instruction. With a B.A. in Mathematics (Statistical Analysis) and an M.S. in Curriculum Design & Instructional Technology from the University at Albany, Donovan is more than an administrator— he is a math education strategist who understands tutors, scholars, and parent concerns.
In 2022, Donovan transitioned from active tutoring into full-scale leadership by taking on the role of Chief Foundation Officer. In this capacity, he now oversees day-to-day operations, ensures instructional excellence, develops tutor onboarding systems, and steers the long-term academic strategy of LatePass.com. Every decision, tutor match, and learning plan is built around progress families can understand.
Before launching LatePass.com into its current success, Donovan spent over a decade in the classroom, teaching in both New York and Georgia. His hands-on experience with students across grade levels and learning environments gave him a real experience with the math struggles families face, and the breakthroughs that are possible with the right support.
In 2013, Donovan and his family relocated from New York City to the Greater Atlanta Area, a move he describes as “re-tiring”—replacing the worn wheels of the past with a new tread and direction for the future. That same spirit of transformation defines his work today.
